The Armenian Wine-Making and Viticulture Foundation intends to hold an international enotourism (wine tourism) festival in Armenia in 2020, the head of the Foundation Zaruhi Muradyan said today.
She said wine producers from Italy and Austria are already interested in the idea. ‘We hope that our application will be officially presented at the international wine festival slated for 2019 in Spain,” she told journalists.
Muradyan said the festival would allow to invite more than 400 highly qualified industry experts to the country. She added that work was already underway to create a catalog of Armenian grape varieties, which will also be available to European users. Also, work is underway on the geographical localization of varieties, she said.
Geographical localization of varieties, according to her, is important for attraction of enotourists. “Wine lovers and winegrowers will be interested in our country and will want to get acquainted with our wines at the place of their production,” she said.
